Episode 19: Conversation with Over The Rhine- Musicians Karin Bergquist & ‎Linford Detweiler

In this Episode Carrie and Parker talk with musicians Karin Bergquist & Linford Detweiler (Over The Rhine). They explore the creative process, the spiritual and person threads in their music, balancing inward and outward engagement, creating community and “thin places in the world.” We discuss of their beautiful songs, “Betting on the Muse” “Broken Angels” and “Meet Me At The Edge Of The World.” Want to explore this podcast with others? There's a conversation starter for this episode HERE.

Here's our March Question of the Month

Our March Question was inspired by a comment from Linford Detweiler when we asked him and Karin to talk about their sense of vocation or purpose: "We work hard to try to write a beautiful song… Then we ask ourselves, why not just make a beautiful life, or at least try to? … Once we get into that way of being, the songs will have a way of making themselves known. My prayer has become, ‘Thank you. Help me make my life a work of art.’”

Our Question of the Month: What does it mean to you to “make a beautiful life”? How do you hold that aspiration? What helps you keep moving toward it, even when you fall short or external circumstances get in your way? Is it possible to make failure itself part of “a beautiful life”? If so, how?

We hope you'll listen, download our Conversation Starter, and gather with family or friends to talk about this question, or anything else that captures your interest in our rich conversation with Karin and Linford.Conversation Starter link
